Obituary

Wondaline Moore Ridgeway, 88, of Mills River, NC, passed away on August 16, 2014, peacefully in her sleep at her residence.

A celebration of Mrs. Ridgeway's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at in the chapel at Snead Funeral Home, Snead, AL. Burial will immediately follow the service at Ebenezer Cemetery.

Mrs. Ridgeway was born in Altoona, Alabama and lived most of her life in Huntsville, AL. She graduated from Susan Moore High School and was married to her high school sweetheart, Gerald Ridgeway, for 56 years. She was a homemaker, but spent her early married years as a teacher at Susan Moore School.

In recent years, Mrs. Ridgeway loved attending Lake View Baptist Church in Biltmore Lake, NC and especially enjoyed the music. She loved watching golf, the Atlanta Braves and playing with her "girls" – her Shih Tzu's, Abbie and Emma. She was well loved and respected by all who knew her. She never met a stranger and had a wonderful sense of humor. She made a difference in each life she touched.

Mrs. Ridgeway is survived by her niece, Diane Ridgeway McLean (Larry) of Mills River, NC; grandson Paul (Janet) Ridgeway and two great granddaughters, Eden and Lydia, all of Jubilee, FL; Brother-in-Law, James Ridgeway, Sisters-in-Law, Lois Ridgeway and Janell Ridgeway; Aunts, Tran Sloman Fowler and Glenda Sloman Fowler; Uncle, Marlin Sloman; Nieces, Brenda Ridgeway Aldrich, June Ridgeway Ogles, Janice Ridgeway Primavera, Patricia Ridgeway Sorge, Velma Painter Meade, Geraldine Langston Varvel, Carol Langston Freeman, Kathy Ridgeway Kennedy; Nephews, Michael Ridgeway, David Ridgeway, Rex Ridgeway, Lelton Ridgeway, Abraham Painter, Curtis Painter, Harold Ridgeway, Ronald Ridgeway, Dale Ridgeway, James Ridgeway, Brent Ridgeway and a host of great nieces and great nephews.


Mrs. Ridgeway was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, parents Robert Bennett and Cornelia Sloman Moore, and brother Arnel.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation to Mrs. Ridgeway's caregivers, Loretta Robertson and Sandra Lowrie, and is grateful for the kindness and compassion of the staff at CarePartners Hospice.
