Obituary

William Oren Gilam of Snead, Alabama passed away Monday, September 8, 2014 at his residence at the age of 87.

Mr. Gilam served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a faithful member of Snead United Methodist Church. He loved deer hunting, fishing, gardening and handing out vegetables to his community members.

He is survived by his wife Irene Kilpatrick Gilam of Snead, his daughter and son-in-law Joan and Roy Wadkins of Snead, and his granddaughter Sherrie Woodard of Snead. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Brother Joey Smith, Brother Bric Latham, and Brother Herb Robertson will conduct the 2:00pm funeral service at Snead United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Douglas Cemetery. Mr. Gilam will lie in state at Snead Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:30pm until 8:00pm and Wednesday from 8:30am until 12:00pm.

Pallbearers will be Kenney Kilpatrick, David Kilpatrick, Gary Watkins, Wayne Snead, Windell Denney, and James Denney.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Wichien Choosilp "OTT" and James L. Barwick.

Mr. Gilam is preceded in death by his parents John William and Jewel Lester Gilam and his siblings Thelston Gilam, Elven Gilam, Verlaree Gilam and Maggie Wigley.
