Ms. Vera Opal Hathcock Brothers, age 82 of Oneonta, Alabama, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025 at UAB St. Vincent Blount Hospital ER.

Opal was born April 22, 1942 to Maston McKinley and Emily Jane Phillips Hathcock and was the last of ten siblings.  She was married to her husband Eddie Brothers for thirty nine years and was a member of Second Baptist Church of Oneonta for more than fifty years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Brothers; her parents, Maston McKinley and Emily Jane Phillips Hathcock; her siblings, Ruth Colley, Ester Teal, Nuverlie (Verl) Clements, Birth Teal, Oscar (Pete) Hathcock, Billy Hathcock, Grady Hathcock, and Sam Hathcock.

Ms. Brothers is survived by her son, Joe Brothers; her grandsons, Tyler Brothers and Eric Brothers; her brother, Bert Hathcock; and a host of Nieces and nephews.

Brother Don Garrison will conduct the Funeral Service on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Snead Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.  The Brothers Family will receive friends, at Snead Funeral Home, on Sunday beginning at 12:00 PM.

Family and Friends will serve as Pallbearers.
