Brother Troy Gene Halbrooks, age 88 of the Royal Community of Blountsville, AL., passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at his residence.

Brother Halbrooks was a Minister of the Gospel for over 50 years.  During that time he pastored 5 churches and mentored countless young ministers as they began their call into the ministry.  He was also a Mason for over 50 years and retired from Pemco.

He is survived by his wife – Doris Wilkes Halbrooks of the Royal Community of Blountsville, AL., his daughter and son-in-law – Renee and Gene Garner of Brooksville, AL., his daughter and son-in-law – Rhonda and David Bryant of Oneonta, AL.; his step daughter and her husband – Cheryl and Paul Kelley of Arab, AL., his step daughter and her husband – Sonya and Jeff Bailey of Arab, AL., his step son and his wife – Andy and Wendy Wilkes of Arab, AL.; his grandchildren – Jason and Jerri Garner, Scot Garner, Ondrea and Shawn Edmonson, Paul and Monica Bryant; his step-grandchildren – Erin and Daniel Wright, Hannah and Matt Miller, Will Kelley, Emily Freeman, Josh and Jordan Bailey, Trey Wilkes; 7 great grandchildren; his siblings – Laverne Lipscomb of Priceville, AL., Vann Halbrooks of Fairfax, VA., Leasle Maze of Eva, AL., Perry Glenn and Janet Halbrooks of Chattanooga, TN., and Laneeta Dunnaway of Hartselle, AL., as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Brother Halbrooks is preceded in death by his wife – Ozyleah Cox Hallbrooks, his grandsons – Jarred Garner and Brad Bailey, and his parents – John Sullivan and Mattie Lou (Whitten) Halbrooks.

Brother Scot Garner, Brother Paul Kelley, and Brother Perry Glenn Halbrooks will conduct the Funeral Service, Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 AM from Highmound Missionary Baptist Church.  Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.  Mr. Halbrooks will Lie In Repose, at Snead Funeral Home, Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Pallbearers will be – Stanley Jones, Larry Camp, Sam Johnson, Justin Smith, Roger Peppers, and Rodney Sullivan.
