Mrs. Shirley Dean (Ivey) Burdett, age 87 of the Friday's Crossing Community of Susan Moore, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at her home.  She was born July 27, 1937 to Linder and Sarah Dove Ivey and is preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, Ray Southern.

Shirley, at a young age, traveled to Mississippi and married her high school sweetheart, Don, and remained loyal to him for 69 years until her death.  She was a faithful member of Union Hill Baptist Church for 51 years teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.  She was known for her quick wit and gift of cooking.  Many would say her fried pies and banana pudding were the best around sometimes causing conflict on who would get the last serving.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Don Burdett; her children, David Burdett, Jody (Patricia) Burdett, Stacey (Jeff) McHan, and Sarah (Alton) Martin; her grandchildren, Michael Burdett, Katie Nowell, Andrew Burdett, Bailee Terry, James Martin, Aimee Martin, Jacob McHan, and Nikki Lewis; Three great grandchildren; her brother, Kennon (Cheryl) Ivey; her sister, Sharlot Southern; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Brother Robbie Burtram will conduct the funeral service on Friday, January 3, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Snead Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.  The family will receive friends, at Snead Funeral Home, beginning at 10:00 AM.

Jeff McHan, Jody Burdett, Alton Martin, James Martin, Michael Burdett, and Jacob McHan will serve as Pallbearers.
