Mr. Sherman Hamby, age 73 of Horton, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Hamby was born June 18, 1939 to P. E. and Evelyn Pearman Hamby. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and a member of The Blount County and The Alabama Cattleman's Associations. Mr. Hamby was married to the love of his life Doris Beasley for 51 years.

He is survived by his wife; Doris Beasley Hamby; daughter; Ginger and Robert Wright, son; Lamar and Kim Hamby; grandchildren; Chad and Hannah Wright, Kyle Wright, and Peyton Hamby; great-grandson; Braxton Wright, siblings; Noyal D. Hamby, Jack Hamby, Shelby Daniel, Linda McHan, Rex Hamby, Margie and Glen Yates, Rosemary and Jacky Ponder, Cherry Hamby, sister-in-law; Nadine Hamby.

Mr. Hamby is going home to meet his parents; P.E. and Evelyn Pearman Hamby and his brother Willie T. Hamby.

Brother Robbie Burtram will conduct the Funeral Service on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Snead Funeral Home with interment in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Mr. Hamby will Lie In State Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Friday from 8:00 A.M. until Funeral Time.

Pallbearers will be Rick Hamby, Robby Hamby, Keith Hamby, Allen Hamby, Tommy Hamby, Jeff McHan, Matt Yates, Michael Lee Habmy, Stacy Umphrey
