Mrs. Shelby Jean Bailey Harper, age 74 of the Wilson Chapel Community of Altoona, AL., passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Gadsden Regional Hospital.
Shelby was of the Baptist Faith. She was married to Billy F. Harper for 60 years. Shelby is retired from Gold Kist of Boaz, AL. were she worked as a deboner. The most important job she had was taking care of her family. She had a strong love for her family that will carry on for generations to come.
Mrs. Harper is survived by her husband: Billy F. Harper of Altoona, AL.; her children: Allen and Kelley Harper of Altoona, AL., Jeffery and Vinnie Harper of Altoona, AL., Sherry Harper of Altoona, AL., and Jeanne and Barry Smith of Etowah County; her grandchildren: Rocky Allen and Susan Harper of Altoona, AL., Billy "Bubba" and Stacey Harper of Altoona, AL., Daniel Ray Thomason of Snead, AL., David and Holly Harper of the Williams Settlement Community, Billy Shane and Karen Harper of Douglas, AL., Rexall Harper of Altoona, AL., Miranda Hendrix of Altoona, AL., John Paul Hendrix of Altoona, AL., Makala Smith of Altoona, AL., Brianna Smith of Etowah County, Brandon Smith of Etowah County, and Shayla Smith of Etowah County; her great grandchildren: Makenzie Harper, Shelby Harper, Brier Harper, Lexi Harper, Harris Harper, Bailey Harper, Kaycee Samford, Hunter Steen, Eve Thomason, Febie Thomason, Chloe Harper, Kylegh Harper, and Gage Harper.
Mrs. Harper is predeceased by her grandson: Keith Harper; her granddaughter: Crystal Smith; her granddaughter-in-law: Malori Harper; her father: James Rexall Bailey; her mother: Virgie Mae Snell Bailey; and her siblings: James Bailey, P. David Bailey, Max Bailey, Jackie "Walter" Bailey, and Jennall Vice.
Jeffery McCay and Barry Smith will conduct the funeral service at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at The Chapel of Snead Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bailey Cemetery at Wynnville. Mrs. Harper will lie in state at Snead Funeral Home on Monday from 5:30pm until 8:00pm and Tuesday from 8:30am until funeral time.
Rocky Harper, Bubba Harper, David Harper, Daniel Thomason, Shane Harper, Rexall Harper, and Jon Paul Hendrix will serve as Pallbearers with Brandon Smith as a Honorary.
The service will open with "Angels" and "Amazing Grace" followed by a eulogy by Barry Smith. Then we will play "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" followed by a message from Jeffery McCay. The service will conclude with "God On The Mountain" with a cemetery committal to follow.
