Mrs. Sarah Laurel Kirby Burgett was born in Blount County Alabama on March 4, 1923 to the late Luther and Josie Allred Kirby.

She was a longtime member of Snead United Methodist Church. Laurel lived a very happy life and was one to the first females to serve on Jury Duty in Blount County. She drove a school bus for her father because all eligible men were in the service. Mrs. Burgett graduted Susan Moore High School in 1942; the last year W.A. Moore was principal. Using her gift as beautician she worked over 50 years in her home beauty shop. She was a member of New Home Homemaker Club and served with her late husband in VFW and Lions Club at Snead.

Mrs. Burgett is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Thomas Doyle Burgett.

Brother Larry Holley conducted services Wednesday, February 17, 2010 11:00am, in the chapel of the Snead Funeral Home. Mrs. burgett was laid to rest at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Susan Moore.

Don Burgett, Joe Burgett, David Freeman, and Lee Long served as pallbearers.
