Mr. Paul Lynward Matthews, age 85 of Snead, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024 at St. Vincent's Blount Hospital.

He is survived by his wife - Vesta Taylor Matthews; sons - Jason Matthews (Shannon) and Jimmy Matthews; step-daughters - Debbie Smith (David) and Becky Childs (Dan); grandchildren - Megan Smith (Andrew) and Isabel Matthews; great grandchildren - Mercy Smith, Micah Smith, and Margo Smith; step-grandchildren - Kristen Bearden (Chris), Heath Ratliff (Miranda), and Taylor Childs (Elizabeth); step-great grandchildren - Andrew Sommers, Anna Bearden, Aubrey Bearden, Oliver Childs, Olivia Ratliff, and Allison Ratliff; sisters-in-law - Melissa Matthews and Frances Matthews.

Mr. Matthews is preceded in death by his granddaughter - Christie Matthews; parents - Miles and Mamie (Jones) Matthews; and siblings - Willard Matthews, Gerald Matthews, Acton Matthews, and Floyd Matthews, and Betty Melvin; and step-brothers - G.H. Brooks and Alvis Brooks.

Brother Bric Latham will conduct the Funeral Service on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 2:00 PM at The Chapel of The Snead Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends, at Snead Funeral Home, Tuesday from 12:00 PM until Funeral Time.

In Lieu Of Flowers the family requests donations be made to Bethel Baptist Church, PO Box 527, Snead, AL 35952, in Memory of Mr. Matthews.
