Obituary

Mr. Ondell Jack Bannister, age 85 of the Nixon's Chapel Community of Horton, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at his residence.  Mr. Bannister was born on May 4, 1939, to Leonard and Essie Staton Bannister.  He is preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Wallace Bannister; his parents and his siblings, Annie Ruth Alred, J.L. Bannister, Wayne Bannister, and Frances Goggins.

Ondell served four years in The United States Army stationed in Germany at the same time Elvis Presley was stationed there and was able to see him perform at the Office Club and he was also a Marksman.

He is survived by his son, Randy Bannister (Misty); his stepson, Ken Mozley (Pam); his grandchildren, Blake Mozley (Angel), Brooke Langley (Trent), Brayde Bannister, and Kaitlyn Bannister; his great grandchildren, Ellie Mozley, Maddie Mozley, Pierce Plott, Jack Langley, and Rhaelyn Jo Strong; and his siblings, Trish Chapman, and Bill Bannister.

Glenn Stewart will conduct the Funeral Service on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Snead Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Nixon's Chapel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends, at Snead Funeral Home, on Wednesday beginning at 11:30 AM.

Brayde Bannister, Blake Mozley, Doug Holmes, Shannon Helton, Eric Teague and Trent Langley will serve as Pallbearers.
