Mrs. Mary John (Copeland) Snead, age 98 of Snead, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2020 at NHC Place in Anniston.

Quoting one of her grandchildren, "This Mother's Day we said an earthly goodbye to our matriarch. She was sassy as the day is long. If she had an opinion about something, she was going to tell you. She loved her family and The University of Alabama. She could recite poetry better than anyone. No one has ever been more poised or more confident. We know she's up there singing, dancing and spatting with our grandfather over all the iron bowls that have ever taken place since 2006. Oh, how we will miss her being here with us!"

She is survived by her sons – Dr. John W. Snead (Eileen Knipps) of Ft. Myers, FL and Dr. Rodney V. Snead (Trixie) of Anniston, AL; her grandchildren – Shannon DeDomenico (Dr. Dustin),Dr. Bradford Alan Snead (Erin), Dr. Benjamin Ross Snead (Leslie-Ann), and Mary Elizabeth Snead Beard (Andy); her great grandchildren – Emma DeDomenico, Jack DeDomenico, and Luke DeDomenico, Olivia Beard, Ann Copeland Snead, Emory Snead, William Patton Snead, Amelia Alan Snead, Ellis Beard, Davis Snead.

Mrs. Snead is preceded in death by her husband – Olie Ray Snead, her parents – John R. and Elvie (Forrester) Copeland, and her sister – Etta Reba Raymond.

There will be a Memorial Service scheduled at a later date.
