Judy Vaughan Phillips, a cherished member of her family and community, passed away on March 2, 2026, in Snead, Alabama, at the age of 79. Born on December 3, 1946, Judy lived a life filled with love, adventure, and devotion to her family and friends.
Judy was a dedicated church worker who actively engaged in her community, reflecting her profound commitment to service and fellowship. Her familial bonds were strong; she loved her nieces and nephews deeply, as well as her grandchildren. Judy was recognized as the family's biggest cheerleader, always encouraging and supporting her loved ones in their endeavors.
In addition to her family, Judy found joy in a variety of interests. She cherished traveling both domestically and overseas, creating lasting memories through her adventures. Alongside her passion for travel, she enjoyed scrapbooking, capturing the moments of her life and the lives of those she loved. An avid game show enthusiast, Judy found great pleasure in showdowns on Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, often exhibiting her quick wit and extensive knowledge.
Judy's connection to her roots extended back to her days as a proud member of the Susan Moore High School graduating class of 1965. Her class maintained a strong bond, gathering weekly since their graduation, highlighting the enduring friendships formed during those formative years.
Judy is survived by her son, Phil Phillips (Christina), and grandchildren, Bryson Phillips and Addison Phillips. She is also survived by her siblings, including her brother, Phillip Smith (Ann), sister, Emily Amberson (Dana), and brother, Alan Smith (Joan). Additionally, she leaves behind her nieces, Jill Mintz (Hunter), Mary 'Glenn' Miller (Barrett), and Sara Smith; her nephews, Curt Smith (Janet) and Zach Smith (Margot); and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Among her loyal friends are Maya Boyd and Judy Robertson, alongside her special caregivers, Heather Harris and Mary Baker, who provided care and companionship to her.
Judy's life will be honored with a visitation on March 5, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at New Prospect Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM, celebrating her life and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
Judy Vaughan Phillips will be remembered for her unwavering spirit, kindness, and deep love for her family and friends. She touched many lives, and her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
