Jerry Wayne Hovies, 70, passed away on June 9, 2026.

Born on May 7, 1956, Jerry lived a life marked by service, hard work, generosity, and a deep appreciation for the simple things in life. He proudly served his country in both the United States Marine Corps and later the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Following his military service, Jerry built a career as a truck driver, finding peace and fulfillment on the open road.

Jerry had a passion for music, art, farming, and fellowship with family and friends. He believed in living with the basic necessities of life and was known for his willingness to help anyone in need, whether friend or stranger. His kindness, humble spirit, and generous heart left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Betty Hovies; his children, Terri and John; his grandchildren, Jessica, Alexis, Tinley, and Raigen; and his great-grandchildren, Parker and Lily.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise.

Jerry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by his compassion, wisdom, and friendship. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Jerry will be laid to rest at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama. A graveside service will be held on June 16, 2026, at 12:30 p.m.
