J.D. VanWagner, Jr., born on February 23, 1972, departed this life on February 26, 2026, at the age of 54. A devoted husband, brother, and beloved uncle, he leaves a legacy marked by his passion for life and the cherished relationships he cultivated throughout his time with us.
J.D. is survived by his loving wife, Wendy VanWagner, who was an integral part of his life. He also leaves behind his brother, Roger VanWagner and his wife, Susan; his sister, Debra Millwood and her husband, Nick; and his sister, Teresa Entrekin and her husband, Allen. His family tree extends further with the presence of 12 nieces and nephews, 14 great nieces and nephews, and his Goddaughter, Charlie Helms.
J.D. was preceded in death by his parents, James David VanWagner, Sr. and Barbara Ann VanWagner, whose love and guidance shaped him into the person he became.
Passionate and skilled, J.D. enjoyed a variety of hobbies that reflected his appreciation for the great outdoors and craftsmanship. He loved to fish, hunt, and grill, taking pleasure in barbecuing for family and friends. Camping offered him a chance to connect with nature, and he had a particular fondness for cats. A talented mechanic, woodworker, and farmer, J.D.’s hard work was a central theme in his life, embodying a strong work ethic that inspired those around him.
Celebration of J.D.'s life will take place at Snead Funeral Home. Visitation is scheduled for March 2, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM. Subsequently, he will be laid to rest at High Point Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
As we remember J.D. VanWagner, Jr., we honor a life filled with love, commitment, and a zest for the simple joys that life offers. His spirit will surely live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
