Mrs. Janet Rose Strickland, age 71 of Snead, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2013 at her residence.

She was a strong, independent woman who was loved by all. She was truly a Rose. She was an only child, she worked for 911 as a dispatcher, founded MADD in Blount County, worked for the newspaper and had 3 poems published.

Mrs. Strickland is survived by her husband; Troy Strickland, daughter; Jamie Sherman of Gadsden, son; Michael Hall (Dianne Champion) of Oneonta, daughter Carol Whitt (Randy) of Oneonta, daughter; Shannon Hollis (Rick) of Odenville,, daughter; Kelly McCay (Eric) of Pinson, grandchildren; Andrea Smith, Blake Mashburn, Christopher Hall, MIranda McGuire, Meighan Ellis, Chaston Clevenger, and Madison Brady, and 9 Great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Strickland has been cremated. The family will announce a memorial service at a later time.
