Mr. James Alton Weems, age 76 of the Wilson Chapel Community of Susan Moore, AL., passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at his residence.

James was born in Alabama to Mattie and Aubrey Weems on February 25, 1941. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he began a life-long career in aviation mechanics. James retired from South Trust Corporation in 2000. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and his grandchildren. He and Ann were married 51 years.

He is survived by his wife - Ann Weems of the Wilson Chapel Community of Susan Moore, AL.; his daughter and son-in-law - Katrina and Bryan Painter of Oneonta, AL.; his daughter and son-in-law - Rachel and Randy Bynum of Douglas, AL.; his granddaughter and her husband - Jessica and Adam NeSmith, his grandson - Cody Bynum, his grandson - Nick Painter, his granddaughter - Kristen Painter; his great grandson - Harrison NeSmith; his sister and brother-in-law - Connie and Floyd Chambers of Oneonta, AL.; his sister - Reba Tidwell, of Glenco, AL.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Weems is preceded in death by his parents - Aubrey B. and Mattie (Thompson) Weems, and 2 infant brothers.

Brother Glen Stewart will conduct the funeral service Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at The Chapel of the Snead Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Mr. Weems will lie in repose, at Snead Funeral Home, Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be - Cody Bynum, Nick Painter, Phillip Gilliland, Randy Tidwell, Justin Waddle, and Kevin Stewart.
