Mr. Jack Freeman, of Snead, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the age of 86.
Jack is survived by:
Wife: Dera Deavenport Freeman
Children: Diane and Dr. Larry Camp, Bruce and Margo Freeman, Jeff Freeman, Kelly and Darlyn Freeman.
Grandchildren: Lindsey Camp Edelmann, Casey Camp Mettler, Sydney Nicole Freeman, Mark Jackson Freeman, Bailey Suzanne Freeman, Anthony Freeman, Daniel Freeman, Joey Freeman, William Swift, and Lauren Swift.
Great Grandchildren: Amelia Camp Edelmann and Samual Ross Edelmann.
Siblings: Clara Dilmore and Billy Freeman.
Mr. Freeman is preceded in death by his parents: Alfred and Hattie Freeman and siblings: Jerome Freeman, Cleo Holland, and Martha Elrod.
Jack was married to Dera Davenport Freeman for 63 years. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He retired from U.S. Steel Fairfield Works and later from Jefferson State College as Superintendent of maintenance and landscaping. He was a Master Carpenter and lifelong builder and recently retired his council position with the Town of Snead.
Mr. Freeman was a Deacon at Bethel Baptist Church, a pillar of the community, and volunteered to help many. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Steve Bush, Curtis Hawkins, Bric Latham, Chris Seay, and Lindsey Camp Edelmann will conduct the 12:00pm funeral service Friday, February 21, 2014 at Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Altoona - Walnut Grove Cemetery. Mr. Freeman will Lie In State at Snead Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm and Friday from 8:00am until 10:00am then at the Church from 11:00am until funeral time.
Pallbearers will be B.J. Freeman, Brian Freeman, Barry Long, Mark Jackson Freeman, Harold Davenport, and Nick Nickoles.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Lennie Gibson, Cotton Hazelrig, Bill Roberts, David Smith, and Joe Smith.
