Ms. Irene B. Snead passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the age of 90.

Ms. Snead retired after 37 years of nursing from Holy Name of Jesus Hospital in Gadsden, Alabama. She was a loving wife and mother and will be missed greatly by her family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice Care of Southside. The family has requested no flowers. Donations may be made to St. James Catholic Church in Gadsden, Cancer Research, Alzheimer's Research, or Disabled Veterans.

She is survived by her children Joe & Faye Snead of Boaz, Eddie Snead of Southside, and Jim & Diane Snead of Snead; grandchildren Emily & Shay Penney of Snead, Jamie & Jason Lackey of Snead, Zac & Anikki Snead of Germany, and Nichole Snead of Opelika; great grandchildren Clay Lackey, Camden Lackey, Ava Lackey, Aiden Snead, Tanner Humphrey, Grasyn Carter, Aubrey Snead, Conner Penney, Hunter Penney, and Lana Penney. She is also survived by her siblings John & Hope Kazmierski of Pennsylvania, Pearl Fuchs of New Jersey, and Mary Dalmus of Pennsylvania.

Ms. Snead is preceded in death by her husband Nolan Snead; her parents Alphonse and Mary Barszcz Kazmierski; and her siblings Joseph, Stanley, Chester, Edward, Alfonse, Stella and Teresa.

Father Tim Pflander will conduct the Mass Of Christian Burial on Friday, October 17, 2014 @ 10:30am at St. James Catholic Church in Gadsden. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery in Snead. Ms. Snead will lie in state at Snead Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm and then at the church on Friday from 9:30am until funeral time.

Pallbearers will be Clay Lackey, Hunter Penney, Lana Penney, Welton Green, Joe B. Snead, Dale Snead, Jason Lackey, Tanner Humphrey, and Shay Penney.
