Inez Falkner, age 95, and a longtime resident of Birmingham Alabama, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 18, 2018. She is survived by two children, John Gearney Falkner (Peggy), and Sarah Falkner Fulmer, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Inez was born at home in Boothton Alabama on August 23, 1923 to John Russell and Ida Mae Lowery. She taught herself to play piano and acoustic guitar as a young girl and used her gifting for music to serve many local churches. She married Reverend Gearnest Falkner in the early 1940's and supported him as he preached the gospel.

Inez, Gearnest, and John were the Falkner Trio and traveled together singing Southern Gospel music. They performed at local churches and jails, WVOK AM Radio with "Church of the Air", on television programs, and the Grand Old Opry. After her husband's death, Inez and John continued to sing gospel music with numerous individuals and groups. She was the pianist for Thomas Baptist Church, worked at Carraway Methodist Hospital, and ultimately retired from St. Vincent's Hospital in downtown Birmingham.

Inez loved visiting the sick in hospitals, eating at the Huddle House in Eastlake, long conversations, and being with family. Although she was not known for being on time, she never arrived anywhere empty-handed. Her family can say goodbye to her for now knowing that she is enjoying the company of Jesus, her husband and parents, and many treasured family members and friends. There will be a service on December 27 ^th at 12 (noon) at Snead Funeral Home, 170 Richmond Drive, Snead, Alabama. Visitation times are family 10:00 - 11:00 am and friends from 11:00 – 12:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow at Macedonia Baptist Church in Shelby County.
