Mr. Huey Dean Dempsey of Susan Moore, AL. formerly of Oneonta, AL., passed away Thursday, April 2, 2015 at the age of 79.
Mr. Dempsey served in The United States Army earning the Army of Occupation of Germany Medal, the Army Expert Rifle Medal, the Army Sharpshooter Medal, the Army Driver & Mechanic Medal, and the Army Good Conduct Medal. He loved nature, livestock, and horses. The past few years he crafted canes from trumpet vines with one on display at the Blount County Museum.
Huey is survived by his wife Linda Hudson Dempsey of Oneonta, AL.; his children Robert & Lori Dempsey of Susan Moore, AL., Marchelle & Kennie Willett of Susan Moore, AL.; and Richy & Marla Dempsey of Susan Moore, AL.; his stepchildren Chuck & Marcia Norred of California, Karen & Johnny Harris of Washington, Carla Pate of Washington, Wendy Hogeland-Pakbaz of Susan Moore, AL., and Leonard Hogeland, Jr. of Oneonta, AL.; his grandchildren Michelle Denton of Washington, Blake "Clyde" Willett of Guntersville, AL., Courtney "Myrtle" Willett of Susan Moore, AL., Barrett Dempsey of Susan Moore, AL., and Abbott Dempsey of Susan Moore, AL.; his great grandchildren Braden Denton and Adalyn Denton both of Washington; and a host of step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Mr. Dempsey is preceded in death by his first wife Betty Dempsey; his parents J. Ben & Ella D. (Long) Dempsey; and his siblings Betty Elaine Dempsey and Carolyn Dempsey Ellison.
Elder Joaquin Zepeda will conduct the funeral service Monday, April 6, 2015 @ 1pm at the Chapel of Snead Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Blount Memory Cemetery with the United States Army conducting Military Honors. Mr. Dempsey will lie in state at Snead Funeral Home on Monday from 11am until funeral time.
Pallbearers will be Blake Willett, Barrett Dempsey, Abbott Dempsey, Leonard Hogeland, Jr., Robert Dempsey, and Richy Dempsey.
