Reverend Gurley Harper, of Horton, Alabama, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 at his residence at the age of 79.

Rev. Harper is survived by his wife: Robbie Elrod Harper of Horton, AL.; his daughter and son-in-law: Cindy and Mark Burleson of Kansas; his grandson and granddaughter-in-law: Christopher and Kristy Burleson of Japan; his granddaughter and grandson-in-law: Randi and David Jantz of Florida; his great granddaughter: Arya Rose Burleson of Japan; his sister: Carnell Bass of Altoona, AL.; his sister and brother-in-law: Genell and Jerry Dupree of South Carolina; his stepson and his wife: Alton and Shelby Bickerstaff of Boaz, AL. and his stepson and his wife: Harold and Debra Bickerstaff of Altoona, AL..

Gurley is preceded in death by his first wife: Barbara Nell Elrod Harper; his sons: Randy Harper and Gary Harper; and his mother and stepfather: Louise Harper Patterson and James Patterson.

Brother Freddie Hamby and Brother Earl Harper will conduct the funeral service at 11:00am on Friday, December 11, 2015 at The Chapel of the Snead Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Wynnville Cemetery. Rev. Harper will lie in state at Snead Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:30pm until 8:00pm and Friday from 8:30am until funeral time.

Mark Burleson, David Jantz, Brandon Moore, Roger Hamby, Wilbur "Cotton" Hamby, and Cody Elrod will serve as pallbearers. Randi Jantz will serve as a honorary pallbearer.
