It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Gloria Vernon Joiner, who left us on April 26, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on March 2, 1947, Gloria lived a life rich with love, laughter, and dedication to those dearest to her.
Gloria was a woman with boundless energy and a spirit that touched all who knew her. She loved to cook, filling her home with warmth and delicious aromas that brought family and friends together. An avid fisherwoman, she found peace and joy by the water’s edge, casting her line with patience and hope. Earlier in life, Gloria lent her talent and charm as a hairstylist, infusing beauty and confidence into her community. Above all, her greatest passion was her family—her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her universe. Known for her quick wit and constant joking, Gloria’s presence always lifted spirits. She was ever ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying kindness and generosity.
Gloria’s legacy lives on through her beloved son, Anthony Joiner, and her treasured daughter, Tina Joiner Self. She was a proud grandmother to Ryan Hutchens, Blake Joiner, Taylor Joiner, Brooke Aliane Callaway, Heavanie Joiner, Elijah Joiner, and Keelon Earl Self. Her love extends tenderly to her great-grandchildren Gracelynn Callaway, Jaxxon Callaway, Kace Parsons, Charlie Joiner, Andersyn Mooney, Tripp Joiner, who will carry forward her warmth and spirit.
Her journey on earth was graced by the love of her late husband, Earl Joiner, and she now reunites with him in eternal rest. She was also preceded in death by her dear son Alan Joiner, her loving parents Ralph and Bertha Vernon, her brother Joe Joiner, and her sisters Margaret Pain, Pat Burton, and Charlette Anderson.
Friends and family are invited to honor Gloria’s memory with a visitation on April 30, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Snead Funeral Home, located at 170 Richman Drive, Snead, Alabama. Following this, a funeral service will be held at the same location from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. Gloria will then be laid to rest at Altoona / Walnut Grove Cemetery on Walnut Grove Road in Altoona, Alabama, with burial beginning at 12:00 p.m.
Though Gloria has departed from this world, her spirit remains forever among us—in the stories shared, the laughter recalled, and the love passed down through generations. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of joy and compassion, one that will forever inspire and be cherished by all who were fortunate to know her. May her memory be a blessing and a comfort to all.
