Obituary
Mr. Gerald Dean Matthews, age 77 of Snead, Alabama, passed away Monday, January 27, 2014 at St. Vincent's Blount.
Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife: Melissa Powell Matthews, sons: Jerry Matthews (Debbie) and Johnny Matthews (Paula) both of Oneonta, grandchildren: Alesha Matthews, Kade Matthews, Kesley Matthews, Alexa Matthews and Emily Patterson, brother: Paul Matthews (Vesta) of Snead, sister: Betty Melvin (R.E.) of Pinson, sister in law: Frances Matthews of Clay.
Curtis Hawkins will conduct the funeral service, at The Chapel of Snead Funeral Home, Friday, January 31, 2014 at 2 P.M. with interment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Mr. Matthews will Lie In State, at Snead Funeral Home, Thursday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Friday from 8:30 A.M. until funeral time.
Pallbearers will be Jason Matthews, Michael Holcomb, Eddie Melvin, Micah Melvin, Wilburn Shelton and Johnny Cleveland.
Mr. Matthews is predeceased by his parents: Milas and Mamie (Jones) Matthews, his siblings: Willard Matthews, Acton Matthews, Floyd Matthews, Lois Matthews, G.H. Brooks, and Alvis Brooks.
