Frank Harold LaRue, born October 11, 1943, peacefully passed away on April 30, 2026, in Oneonta. His life was a rich tapestry woven with deep love for family, a joyful spirit nurtured by the beauty of the outdoors, and unfailing loyalty to his passions.
Frank was a man whose heart beat strongest for the Alabama Crimson Tide; his enthusiasm for the team was infectious. He found solace and adventure alike in hunting, camping, and spending peaceful days at the lake—a testament to his enduring connection to nature and the simple joys it offers.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Gale LaRue, whose partnership marked a lifetime of shared love and memories. Frank also bid farewell to his son-in-law of 30 years, Tim Battles, and his parents, Herschel and Lillian LaRue. The loss of his siblings—brothers Alton, Jimmy, Ronnie, and Gerald LaRue, along with sisters Daphine Nash and Brenda O’Steen—is deeply mourned, marking the end of a close-knit family chapter.
Yet Frank’s legacy of love lives on through those who cherished him. He leaves behind his devoted daughter, Tracy Melcher (Gary), who carries forward his spirit and kindness. His grandchildren, Heather Battles and Kyle Battles (Harlie), and great-granddaughter Kaydence Battles continue the family line shaped by his warmth and guidance. Alongside family, Frank’s Special Brother and Best Friend, Fred LaRue, remains a steadfast part of his life’s story. Special gratitude is reserved for his compassionate caregivers, Taylor Hegenheiser and Payson Hegenheiser, whose care and support were a vital comfort in his final days.
The family will gather to honor Frank’s memory at a graveside service on May 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., held at Bethel Cemetery, located at 87927 U.S. 278 in Snead, Alabama. The community is invited to share in this moment of remembrance, celebrating a life lived with humility, joy, and a boundless love for those around him.
Frank Harold LaRue's presence was a beacon of steadfast love and gentle companionship. Though he has left this world, his spirit remains deeply etched in the hearts of all who knew him. May we carry forward his legacy by embracing the passions he held dear and cherishing each moment with those we love.
