Faye loved everyone and never met a stranger.

Faye K. Bryant, born August 23, 1939, passed away on August 28, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and deep devotion to her family. Faye was a woman whose presence brought comfort to those around her. She lived her life with kindness, generosity, and a welcoming spirit, always making those around her feel loved and at home.

Faye loved the simple and meaningful joys of life. She loved canning food, a gift that reflected her care for others and the traditions she held dear. She loved the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, where she found beauty, peace, and happiness. More than anything, she loved keeping up with her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Their lives brought her endless joy, and she cherished every connection, every visit, and every moment spent with them.

Faye was known as “MawMaw” not only by her family, but even by friends and strangers. The name became a reflection of the comfort, love, and affection she inspired in everyone around her. Faye loved everyone and never met a stranger. She had a way of making people feel like family, no matter who they were or how long she had known them. And those who knew her well will always remember that many would say she made the very best pickled okra.

Her family was the center of her world. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Hancock (Wendell), Kathy Sanders (Red), Regina Maclean (David), Lawana Downey (Chris), Belinda Ayers (Timmy), and Sonya Abbott Cryer (Larry); and her son, Billy Wayne Bryant.

Faye leaves behind a remarkable family legacy spanning five generations. She is survived by 17 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-great-grandchildren. Her love and influence will continue through each generation, carried forward by the family she loved so dearly.

Among those she leaves behind is her beloved great-granddaughter, Briley Grace Bryant, whom Faye lovingly raised from the time Briley was just 8 months old. Their bond was one of the most special and treasured parts of Faye’s life. Faye continued to hold Briley close every day, and the love, guidance, and devotion she gave her will remain a lasting gift. The memories they made together will forever be a precious part of Briley’s life.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Mack Bryant; her grandchildren, Brittany Morgan Bryant, Wesley Dewayne Westcott, and Johnathon Wade Bryant; her father, William Thomas Kanaday; her mother, Lizzy Maginnis Kanaday; her sisters, Athelda Hillis and Opel Kanaday; and her brothers, Slim Kanaday, Ocie Kanaday, and Cecil Kanaday.

Each of these loved ones held a special place in Faye’s heart, and their memories were woven into the story of her life.

Those who were blessed to know Faye will remember a woman with an open heart, a caring nature, and a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. She loved deeply, gave generously, and never hesitated to open her heart to others. Her love reached far beyond her immediate family, and the name “MawMaw” will continue to bring smiles, laughter, and warm memories to the many lives she touched.

Faye’s greatest legacy was not found in possessions or accomplishments, but in the love she gave so freely and the family she helped nurture across five generations. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-grandchildren will carry pieces of her with them—the lessons she taught, the traditions she cherished, the stories she shared, and most of all, the love she gave them.

Visitation will be held on September 1, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Snead Funeral Home, 170 Richman Drive, PO Box 501, Snead, Alabama 35952. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Snead Funeral Home. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Hill Cemetery, 321 Timmerman Road, Blountsville, Alabama 35031.

Faye K. Bryant will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched. Though she is no longer here to check on the kids, share a story, welcome someone into her home, or make another batch of her famous pickled okra, the love she gave so freely will never leave the hearts of those who knew her.

Rest easy, MawMaw. You were loved beyond measure, you will be missed beyond words, and your love will live on through the family you cherished so dearly.
