Doris Wright, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026. Born on June 17, 1945, Doris embraced life with warmth and a gentle spirit that touched all who knew her.
For twenty years, Doris dedicated her time and care as a custodian at Holly Pond High School, a place where she was not only a familiar presence but also a steady and comforting force for students and staff alike. Beyond her work, Doris found joy in simple pleasures—gardening, nurturing beautiful flowers, and tending to her yard with a pride that reflected her love for her home. Her greatest delight came from spending precious moments with her grandchildren, creating memories filled with laughter and love.
Doris's family was the cornerstone of her life. She is lovingly survived by her daughter Fay Cothren and her husband Chad, her daughter Michelle Holland, and her son John Howard Rhodes along with his wife Teresa. Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren—Riley Rhodes, Madison Nunley and her husband Nate, Connor Cothren, Sophie Cothren, and Everlee Cothren—and her great-grandchildren, Rylan McMurray and Lacie McMurray. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her kind sister-in-law, Janette Wright. Sharing her days was her faithful dog, Sam, a constant companion who brought her much comfort.
Doris's heart was enriched by the memories of those who have gone before her: her husbands, Martin Holland and Donald Wright; her parents, Albert Floyd Williams and Mary Pearl Williams; her sisters Maulin Williams, Ruby Thompson, and Paralee Otinger; and her brothers Joe Williams and Floyd Albert Williams.
A visitation to honor Doris's life will be held on April 18, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Snead Funeral Home. The visitation will be followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. The day will conclude with a burial at Holly Pond Cemetery, starting at 1:00 p.m., providing family and friends an opportunity to say their bittersweet farewells.
Pallbearers who will carry Doris to her final resting place are Connor Cothren, Nate Nunley, Ace Simpson, Adam Gibbs, Matt Gibbs, and Wesley Parrish—an honor reflecting the deep affection and respect she inspired.
Though Doris has departed from this world, her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of quiet strength, devotion, and the simple joys of family and home. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered, a shining light that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
