Mrs. Dora Mae Hamby, age 84 of The Wilson Chapel Community of Altoona, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Hamby was a member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church in Wynnville. One of her favorite things was making flower arrangements for her friends and family at cemetery decoration time.
She is survived by her sons: L.C. and Linda Hamby of Altoona, Wilber and Sue Hamby of Altoona, Roger and Marie Hamby of Altoona and Freddie and Lynn Hamby of Oneonta,
8 Grandchildren, and 5 Great-Grandchildren,
siblings: Imogene Harper of Altoona, Albert Harper of Altoona, and Billy and Shelby Harper of Altoona,
special friend: Barbara Smith of Altoona.
Brother Ed Engle and Brother Jimmy Armstrong will conduct the Funeral Service Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 2 P.M. in The Chapel of Snead Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Wynnville Cemetery. Mrs. Hamby will Lie In State, at Snead Funeral Home, Wednesday from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Thursday form 8:30 A.M. until funeral time.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Hamby, Randall Hamby, Stephen Laughlin, Curtis Hamby, Phillip Harper, and Allen Harper.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Trevor Hamby.
Mrs. Hamby is preceded in death by her husband: Cecil Grady Hamby, her daughter: Debbie Hamby Laughlin, her parents: Vergil and Mattie (Morris) Harper, and her siblings: O.D. Harper, Bud Harper, Emma Harper, and Louise Patterson.
