Obituary
Mrs. Dena Davenport Hammett, age 88 of Snead, AL, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital.
Ms. Hammett is survived by her son and daughter in law – Steven E. and Sheila C. Hammett of Oneonta, AL, her grandson and his wife – Dustin E. and Caroline Hammett, her granddaughter – Stefanie E. Hammett, her brother – Alfred Davenport of the Tait's Gap Community in Oneonta, AL, and her twin sister – Dera D. Freeman of Snead, AL.
She is preceded in death by her husband – Floyd E. Hammett, her daughter – Cindy E. Hammett, her parents – Newt and Fannie (Dillard) Davenport, her brothers – Clarence Davenport, Ralph Davenport, and J.D. Davenport, and her sister – Nell Long.
Brother Bric Latham and Brother Larry Holley will conduct the funeral service Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in The Chapel of The Snead Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Altoona - Walnut Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Hammett will lie in repose, at Snead Funeral Home, Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until funeral time.
Bethel Baptist Church will host a time of fellowship for the family and friends Thursday afternoon following the interment service.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Freeman, Kelly Freeman, Barry Long, Mike McCay, Nick Nickoles, and John Hayes.
