Obituary

Mr. Clarence Wilson Nairmore, age 90 of Snead, AL., passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016 at St. Vincent's East Hospital in Birmingham, AL..

Mr. Nairmore is a Veteran of the United States Army. In 1944 during World War II he was drafted out of Phillips High School into the Army. He served in Company L, 141st Infantry Regiment of the 36th Division. He left the United States from Camp Patrick Henry in New Port News, Virginia bound for Naples, Italy. He engaged in battles with the Germans in Rome-Arno, Italy, Southern France, Rhineland & Central Germany. Clarence was wounded in Francois, France on September 8, 1944 receiving the Purple Heart Medal. During World War II he also received the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars, the World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge, and the Combat Infantry Badge.
After his discharge he went to work for Alabama Power Company where he retired after 42 years of service. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church but was attending Grace Baptist Church, the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, where he made a podium for the American Legion Post 171 in Birmingham, AL.. He also built clocks, rockers, and other items upon request of family and friends.

Mr. Nairmore is survived by his wife - Bonnie Gibbs Nairmore of Snead, AL.; his son and daughter-in-law - Billy and Diane Nairmore of Pinson, AL.; his son and daughter-in-law - John and Charlotte Nairmore of the Nixon Chapel Community; his stepson and wife - Morris and Nancy Campbell; his stepson and wife - Barry and Cindy Campbell; his stepdaughter and husband - Sherri and Timmy Fountain; his grandchildren - Chris and Alisa Nairmore, Tara and Byron Seahorn, Jason and Brandi Nairmore, Josh Nairmore, Wesley and Amy Lewis, Tripp and Shaye Lewis, Tracie and Jimmy Rigsby; 8 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and 9 step great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife - Margene Putman Nairmore; his grandson - Joey Nairmore; his father - Joseph Wilson Nairmore; his mother - Stella Belk Nairmore; and his sister - Carolyn Felstein.

Bric Latham, Curtis Hawkins, and Billy Nairmore will be quest speakers at the funeral service which will be held Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at 10:00am at The Chapel of the Snead Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery with military honors. Mr. Nairmore will lie in repose at Snead Funeral Home Monday from 6:00pm - 8:00pm and Tuesday from 8:00am until funeral time.
