Obituary

Longtime Susan Moore resident Carolyn Joy Peppers Wright, age 76, passed away at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, Wednesday, July 29, 2020.  Carolyn was a retired healthcare professional who lived and worked in Birmingham, Alabama 29 years before relocating back to Susan Moore in 2004 to build a home and spend her retirement years in this beautiful area of Alabama.  Susan Moore was a place she always held close to her heart as she had so many wonderful memories with school, friends, and family.  She enjoyed her newly built home, her cats, her yard, as well as her adult daughters and their children.  She proudly earned the title "Crazy Cat Lady" in her senior years, and she made no apologies for this either.  Bambi & Rollie stole her heart and kept her amazingly entertained for years.  Her cat lady heart was more than full considering she once had a total of four; two cats preceded her in death, Thumper and Hobo.

She is a 1962 graduate of Susan Moore High School where she was a cheerleader, "Wittiest" of her Who's Who Class, as well as a student of the highest grades.  She loved being a Mother to her two daughters, and she was a devout Christian woman with high morals, strong faith, and a commitment to her friends and family.  She had a larger than life personality and loved to crack you up with her best, latest joke.  She loved to dance, sing, and talk on the phone to her dear friends, as well as visit with her daughters and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Edna Pair Peppers and Ocie Thurston Peppers of Friday's Crossing.  She is survived by her two daughters, Dena Marlene DeMent of Birmingham and Felicia Clem Schlafer (Martin) of Atlanta; a host of Grandchildren Trey Allen Robbins, Christopher Alec DeMent, Olivia Kathryn Schlafer, Benjamin Robert Schlafer; and Great Grandchildren Jadyn Alaya Robbins, Brooklyn Alexa Robbins, Brody Allen Robbins, and Axel Baily DeMent, as well as many friends and relatives.  Visitation will be held at Snead Funeral Home in Snead, Alabama, Sunday August 2, 2020.  Family 12:30PM-1:00PM, Public 1:00PM-3:00PM; Service will immediately follow at 3:00PM.  Interment will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery at Friday's Crossing.  Social Distancing & Masks Will Be Required for Chapel Service & Graveside Gathering.
