Ms. Glenda Carolyn (Brooks) Harris Jones, age 71 of Snead, AL., passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Gadsden Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was known as Carolyn to most everyone. She spent most of her working life in dietary aid. She began with the Snead State College cafeteria and soon moved on to Marshall Medical Center where she retired after 30 years serving patients, doctors and medical staff through the hospital cafeteria. Carolyn grew up in the small rural community of Mount Hebron and attended nearby Douglas High School. She grew up the middle child between two brothers; Wayne and Larry. Her parents, Reverend E.J. and Iva Brooks pastored her home church, Wesley's Chapel. Before entering the work world, Carolyn began raising her three sons; Michael, Mark and Marty Harris. Later were added two step-sons; Timothy and Scott Jones. She loved investing time and attention in her family including all the grand and great grand kids. She spent any leisure time she had with her dogs, "Coconut" (a chawawa) and "Cookie" (a bassett hound) or nurturing her beautiful flowers.

On Wednesday, July 19 Carolyn's struggle with Alzheimer's ended at the age of 71. She followed Jesus to her rest and was reunited with her Dad and Mom whom she missed greatly.

The family would like to express their deepest thanks for all the support of dear friends and neighbors during Carolyn's illness and now in her passing.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law – Michael and Tammy Harris of Snead, AL.; her son and daughter-in-law – Mark and Lisa Harris of Southside, AL.; her son and daughter-in-law – Marty and Laurie Harris of Douglas, AL.; her stepson and his wife – Timothy and Nancy Jones; her stepson and his wife – Scott and Hope Jones; her grandson and his wife – Spencer and Anna Harris; her granddaughter and her husband – Charity and Chance Green; her grandson – Micah Harris; her grandson and his wife – Tyler and Shellie Harris; her granddaughter and her husband – Lauren and Dillion Strange; her granddaughter – Brett Harris; her step-granddaughter – Brenda Jones, her great grandchildren – Zaeden Green, Bryce Harris and Bronson Harris; her brother and sister-in-law – Wayne and Kay Brooks; and her brother and sister-in-law – Larry and Jan Brooks.

She is preceded in death by her parents – E.J. and Iva (Hammett) Brooks.

Michael Harris and Mark Harris will conduct the funeral service Monday, July 24, 2017 at 12 (noon) at The Chapel of the Snead Funeral Home. Interment will be at Forrest Home Cemetery. Mrs. Jones will lie in repose, at Snead Funeral Home, Monday from 11:00 am until funeral time.

Pallbearers will be – Spencer Harris, Micah Harris, Tyler Harris, Chance Green, Dillion Strange, and Scott Jones.

Honorary Pallbearer will be – Tim Jones.
