Mrs. Caroline Mavis Sanford, age 46 of Altoona, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

Caroline was of German decent born in America. He loved the outdoors. She had a love for animals. Cooking was one of her favorite things to do. She was a cook of Creativity. She made up her own recipes. She also had a green thumb for growing pretty flowers. She enjoyed reading to her children. Caroline liked to make crafts with the kids. She extended her love and attention to friends of her children. She dearly loved her grandchildren: Aubrey, Cora, Haley, Wyatt, Meredith, and Greyson. She loved camping and fishing and going to the beach. She was an avid Alabama Football Fan. Caroline somewhat went into grief due to the death of her son Kamron just 13 months ago, but went on with life one day at a time. She was elegant in everything she wore and a princess in any color. She quoted "that her mother once told her when she feared the storms, the winds that blew was God hugging her."

She is survived by her children:
Lana and Duggan Boartfield of Cleveland, OH, Hanna and Warren Helms of Albertville, Kurtis and Emalee Sanford of Springville,

Her grandchildren: Audrey, Cora, Haley, Wyatt, Meredith and Greyson,

Family: Emerald Sanford, Jamey Jenkins, Aiden Forrester, Zack Cawthon, Cailynn Cawthon, Greta Kate Fluharty, Denver Fluharty, Ariel Fluharty, and Andrew Smith.

Tony Jones will conduct the Funeral Service, in The Chapel of Snead Funeral Home, Tuesday, May 13,2014 at 3:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Mrs. Sanford will Lie In State, at Snead Funeral Home, Monday from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until funeral time.

Pallbearers will be: Stan Jerabek, Blake KuyKendall, Trae Reaves, Jake Wise, Russell Witt, and Wallie Jackson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Duggan Boartfield, Warren Helms, Kurtis Sanford, and Ricky Fluharty.

Caroline is preceded in death by her husband: Jerry Sanford, her son: Kamron Sanford, her sister: Rita Sanford, her stepfather: Gus DuPuis, and her Grandfather: Richard Fluharty, Sr.
