Calvin “Jeff” Leo Gable, born July 3, 1926, passed away on October 14, 2026, leaving behind a long and well-lived life that touched many hearts.
Jeff will be remembered as a man who found joy in simple and lasting things. His main love was gardening, and he also loved fishing, bird hunting, and going to church. He was a brick layer by trade, and his work stood as a testament to his strength and dedication, having laid brick from Pennsylvania to the Mississippi River. Through both his labor and the life he built around the people and places he loved, he leaves a memory of steadiness, faith, and hard work.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma Gable; his daughter, Betsy Oliver (Jerry); his grandson, Philip Oliver; his parents; Monroe and Clara Allison Gable; his brothers, Russell Gable, James “Mutt” Gable, and Robert Gable; and his sister, Mary Lowe.
Jeff’s memory will be cherished by his family, including his daughters, Patricia Bentley (Joe) and Tammy Cofield (Jeff). He also leaves behind grandchildren Jeffrey Olivier, Elizabeth Duke (Randy), John Bentley (Katrina), and Valerie Miller (Seth), as well as a treasured circle of great-grandchildren: Betsy Oliver, Lilly Messier (Mark), Luke Oliver, Emily Chastain, Ashley Chastain, Kaden Duke, Reese Bentley, Zeke Miller, Zane Miller, Zoey Miller, Bell Oliver, and his great-great-granddaughter, Melody Oliver. In the lives of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren his love and example will continue on.
