Mr. Harold "Buddy" Thompson, Jr., age 60 of Altoona, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020, at Riverview Hospital in Gadsden, Ala.

He is survived by his wife – Jeanettie Thompson; his daughter Amanda (Brandon) Wilemon; stepdaughters Morgan Sanders and Kelli (Mark) Gilliland; sister Kay Thompson; 9 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Buddy is preceded in death by his late wife – Elizabeth "Libby" Childress Thompson and his parents, Harold Thompson, Sr. and Annie Thompson.

Robbie Burtram will conduct the Funeral Service on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at 2:00 P.M. in The Chapel of Snead Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Altoona / Walnut Grove Cemetery. Mr. Thompson will Lie-In-Repose, at Snead Funeral Home, Sunday from 12:00 P.M. until Funeral Time.

Pallbearers will be – Randall Green, Brandon Wilemon, Ralph Whitehead, Ken Nix, Phillip Alexander, Jerry Hogeland, Gary Cooper, Ricky Nash

Honorary Pallbearers will be – Luke Thompson, Nikolas Wilemon, Landon Wilemon, BentLee Wilemon, Nathaniel Gilliland, Benjamin Gilliland, Samuel Gilliland, and Rex McAfee

Buddy Thompson was employed by the Town of Altoona for almost 11 years, during those years, many people grew to love Buddy. To Buddy, the world revolved around his grandchildren and he loved to have them travel with him. Whether it was the beach or the mountains or even just a trip to Rural King, Buddy loved being on the go. Another of his favorite past times was going to auctions and collecting antiques with his best buddy Randall Green and his grandson Luke Thompson. Buddy loved to take his wife Jeanettie Thompson bowling or out dancing and was always making up silly songs or telling a funny story—he was truly a big kid at heart. Buddy was a man of few words, but when he spoke, people listened. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by many. Buddy Thompson accepted salvation three weeks before his passing and peace is found knowing that he has been delivered from the afflictions of this world.
