Billy Wayne Hawkins, a dedicated mason and a beloved family man, passed away on January 15, 2026, in Oneonta, Alabama, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and devotion. Born on January 29, 1956, Billy lived a life rich in love and commitment to his family, as well as a passion for the activities that brought him joy.
Throughout his career in masonry work, Billy exemplified a strong work ethic and skilled craftsmanship that earned him respect and admiration within his community. His dedication extended beyond his profession into his personal interests; he cherished hunting and fishing, took pride in tending to his chickens and flowers, and remained an enthusiastic supporter at motocross races.
Billy is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Hawkins, and his two daughters, Karen Cuzzort and Quisha Smith. He was a proud grandfather to Dakota Thomas (Maria), Billy Thomas (Harley), Lindsey Allison (Chris), Jacob Cuzzort (Ashley), Noah Hawkins, and Mila Allred. He also held a special place in his heart for his nine great-grandchildren. Among those he regarded as family were honorary son John Thomas and honorary daughters Denise Hawkins and Kristy Thomas, alongside a host of nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply. Additionally, he shared a lasting bond with his mother, Ledy Mae Hawkins. He is also survived by brother; Allen Hawkins (Denis); his brother, Terry Hawkins (Linda); his brother, David Hawkins (Brenda); his sister, Susie Hawkins; his sister, Sandra Brogden; and his sister Becky Weston (Glenn)
He is preceded in death by his father, William Bill Hawkins, along with his brother, Christopher Keith Hawkins. Billy is also remembered fondly by his grandparents, Jesse and Molly Hawkins, and Ollie and Lilly Allen, whose love shaped his early years. His granddaughter, Kallie Faith Hawkins, and son-in-law, Jason Cuzzort, are also among those who will be missed.
Billy Wayne Hawkins will forever be remembered for his strength, kindness, and unwavering support of his family and friends. His legacy of love and dedication will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
