Betty Athalene Netherton, 96 of Horton, Alabama, passed away on May 22, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. She was born February 23, 1929, to Marvin and Flossie Freeman.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Netherton; her son Gary Netherton; her parents; and her brothers and sisters.

Her surviving family members include her children, Sheron Garner (Roy), Donna Cornelius (Jerry), Rodney Netherton (Redia), Phillip Netherton (Dian), Ronda McCullough, Katrina Goza (Terry), and Lee Netherton. She was grandmother to 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at New Prospect Baptist Church on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Winston County.

The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice, Laurn, Tosha, and caregivers Monica and Karen for all of their help during her illness.
