Ms. Ann Tobler Whatley, age 86 of Snead, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 five days after her 86th birthday at her daughters residence in Boaz.
Toby spent many years at home raising her children and being a loving and devoted wife to Paul Whatley. She spent many years as a loyal employee of the Southern Company where she enjoyed not only her job but fellowship with many co-workers. Her hobbies included knitting for family and friends, baking especially her chocolate pound cake and hours of playing bridge. She was an avid football fan and stayed loyal to the Florida Gators where her husband once played. In more recent years her devotion was to the Susan Moore Bulldogs as well as the Samford Bulldogs and Mississippi State Bulldogs where her two grandsons played and where she faithfully cheered them on. Her smile and contagious laughter will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Ms. Whatley is survived by her children Sarah Whatley Kypriss of Florida, Paul Madison Whatley, Jr.(Kathy) of Birmingham, and Diana Whatley of Boaz; her grandchildren Curtis Whatley Smith (Janet) of Susan Moore, Zachary Alan Smith of Susan Moore, Madison Whatley Merrill (Trey) of Birmingham, Lacey Whatley of Birmingham, and Andrew Paul Kypriss (Sophia) of Florida; her great grandchildren Fletcher Madison Merrill, Thomas Lee Merrill IV, Jalan Curtis Smith and one on the way; her nieces and nephews from Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and siblings Grace Wilmer Conlin of Illinois, and Diana Tobler Sullivan of Wisconsin.
Ms. Whatley is preceded in death by her husband Paul Madison Whatley and her parents John O. and Grace Thompson Tobler.
Dan Boatman will conduct the 2pm funeral service on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the Chapel of Snead Funeral Home. The family will have a private burial. Ms. Whatley will lie in state at Snead Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:00pm until funeral time.
